Newcastle_CoalPortA new $5 billion coal terminal has been recommended for approval at Newcastle.

The proposed T4 terminal was recommended for approval by NSW Planning Assessment Commission (PAC) in spite of softer coal prices.

While the existing Port Waratah Coal infrastructure can handle current coal load volumes, production from Hunter Valley coal mines are expected to reach new records so forward planning of the port expansion is necessary.

If the T4 terminal construction proceeds it is likely to create 1500 construction jobs for the Hunter Valley.While the existing Port Waratah coal infrastructure can handle current load volumes, production from Hunter Valley coal mines are expected to reach new records so forward planning of the port expansion is necessary.

If the T4 terminal construction proceeds it is likely to create 1500 construction jobs.

Meanwhile, stage 1 of an expansion of Newcastle’s airport was completed late 2014, paving the way for direct international flights. This is very positive news for the Hunter Valley region.
