One Month Is A Long Time In The Property World

One Month Is A Long Time In The Property World
February 25, 2016 Propertyology Head of Research and REIA Hall of Famer, Simon Pressley

Dear Investors,

A lot has happened in the property world during the four (4) weeks since our last newsletter.

At a federal government level, both sides of parliament have eluded to some changes with negative gearing (NG). We are conscious that many Australians would like to know Propertyology’s opinion on this contentious topic. The most important point which we’d like to make is that tax policies don’t have a huge impact on property markets. If you don’t believe me, ask yourself why it is that Melbourne & Sydney experienced circa 15% price growth during 2015 while Perth & Darwin declined by circa 5%. Similarly, ask yourself why Sydney was mostly flat for the six years to 2009 while many other parts of the country performed strongly. For more on our thoughts on this topic you can click here and read our blog on Facebook.

It’s very much onwards and upwards for us. So much so that our management team spent all of last week in an interstate location which Propertyology has just officially given the green light on. The industries which drive this particular location’s economy combined with a very important piece of infrastructure make us very excited about the prospects for good return on investment in years to come. And, we’re about to start buying 3-bedroom houses in this exciting location for as little as $200,000 (no, it’s not a typo).

In Propertyology’s opinion, 2016 represents a year with arguably the best opportunities for Australian property investors in more than a decade. To learn why and for our thoughts on what to look out for in 2016, click here to watch our video on 2016 Market Outlook.

Saving the best to last, Propertyology is pleased to announce that, earlier this month, we were recognised as Queensland’s best real estate business, winning the 2016 REIQ Awards For Excellence Small Residential Agency of the Year. We are the first non-sales business to receive such an award. Our very own, Bryan Loughnan, was also recognised for his fine work. You can read our press release and view the photos of us from the night right here. You can even watch our acceptance speech wherein we dedicated the award to all of you, our wonderful clients

Kindest regards

Simon Pressley
