Propertyology Managing Director, Simon Pressley, was recently awarded REIA Australian Buyer’s Agent of the Year for the third consecutive year.
Mr Pressley won the award, which recognises excellence in buyer’s agency in 2012 and 2013 and accepted it for 2014 at a gala ceremony in Hobart.
Mr Pressley also took out the 2014 Queensland REIQ Buyer’s Agent of the Year award last month, after winning it in 2012 and 2013.
“This award to me is all about having the confidence to back yourself”, Pressley said in his acceptance speech.
“15.5 years ago, I made a decision to end a 10 year career with Australia’s biggest bank and start my own finance and mortgage broking business. Family and friends questioned my sanity. According to them, I held a respectable position, was regularly promoted, and my future was bright. That business then went on to be adjudged Australia’s Broker of the Year in 2004”.
“In 2008, I was in the midst of completing some external studies to satisfy my personal interest in property investment. I have always enjoyed the economic side of property markets. I decided that I wanted to create a business model which no one had previously adopted and help people make more astute property invest decisions. History was about to repeat itself. I was about to walk away from one secure career path to total uncertainty. And, the GFC had just hit. You could imagine those close to me (again) questioning my decision”.
“I’ve always enjoyed helping people. I like numbers, the economy, and thinking outside the square”.
“Life has taught me that genuine passion, striving for a better outcome for your client, and backing yourself to succeed is a powerful combination”.
Pressley described the award is a team effort.
“Things don’t just happen though. It’s been a lot of hard work. My beautiful wife, Bridget: You’ve never doubted me. You’ve provided me with encouragement and support. Over recent years you’ve become an integral part of the business. Bridget, I love having there and I love you dearly”.
“The amazing Melitta Keillor: You’ve been more than an assistant to me over the last 10 years. This award is as much yours as it is mine. If I could ‘bottle you’ I would”.
“We will keep challenging the status quo and never forget that our team is our biggest asset. We’ve got this far through constantly striving to achieve better experiences for our clients. As history has already taught us, the rest takes care of itself”.
