There are three cylinders which power a property market engine – demand, supply, and sentiment. As shown in this illustration, there are a number of different factors (spark plugs) which influence the pace that an engine moves at. Many of the myths associated with property markets are not supported by evidence. Property markets are extremely complex; it’s a scientific and an ongoing task to study property markets. This science is what we call PROPERTYOLOGY. Blocking out distractions (like the media and well-meaning acquaintances) is an essential attribute for making astute property investment decisions. So too is looking beyond potential short-term gains and a deep understanding of property economics. Remember, it’s not what you know, it’s what you don’t know.
